Monotype painting series - When planning and chance meet
In my monotype painting series, inspired by Gerhard Richter's conviction that chance surpasses intention, I allow the unexpected to happen. Inspired by the shadow sketches, I also use the monotype technique to introduce the element of chance into the pictures with spontaneity and experimentation.By layering several prints until the initial image fades, fascinating new elements emerge. My own interpretation of the monotype method often produces remarkably realistic details such as bone structures or muscle fibers. The transparent colors added in drip painting and gestural style enrich the picture and give the depicted form depth and emotionality.
