Worlds of color
In the series "Farbwelten", which was created for my solo exhibition at the Kulturhafen Heerdt (Düsseldorf), I combine abstraction and figurative elements. The forms oscillate between recognizable shapes and ambiguous gestures. There are allusions to figures, mostly human, which have their origins in nude drawings and suggest the contours of bodies or parts of them. The emotions evoked are just as complex as the visual elements. There is a sense of freedom and fluidity, as if the painting captures a moment of transformation or evolution. The broad, sweeping strokes and splashes of color convey a sense of action and spontaneity. The combination of the forms printed using the monotype technique and the colors used reveals a deep underlying rhythm. Overall, this series invites the viewer to explore the duality of abstract expression and figurative representation. A dialog opens up between the visible and the conceivable, the intentional and the accidental.
