Woman in Yellow
The depiction of women in art has a long and rich tradition, making it a discipline in the field of painting. In my ongoing series titled "Woman in Yellow" I contribute to this tradition based on my identity as an artist, John Atius. The title "Woman in Yellow" was inspired by my affinity for the color yellow and its strong symbolism. But the focus of this series is not just on the color itself. In my paintings I strive to capture the essence of femininity and the profound vitality it embodies. Through my artistic expression, I delve into the rich fabric of the female experience, portraying a multitude of emotions, resilience, desires and unwavering self-confidence. Each artwork in the series reflects the individual stories, dreams and struggles of women and invites viewers to connect with them.By incorporating my own perspective and experiences, I infuse the paintings with my unique artistic style that combines vivid brushstrokes, monotypes, shadow prints and drip painting. In this way, I strive to honor the legacy of female representation in art while bringing my own voice and interpretation to this enduring discipline.
